Power for a mega project!

Dockwise is a leading specialist in the field of heavy sea transport. The world’s largest transport ship, the Blue Marlin, was used to transport the American missile defence system SBX (Sea-Based Xband Radar). In order to win valuable time, Dockwise was asked to transport the 30,000-tonne platform from the Gulf of Mexico via South America to its final destination in the Pacific Ocean.

During transportation, 2000 kVA of power was required in order to be able to continue the work on board the SBX platform. Since this was an open-sea project, it was extremely important that continuity could be guaranteed. In order to be able to satisfy this request, Dockwise placed its trust in the services of Energyst Rental Solutions.

Energyst provided three 1000 kVA generator sets, one of which acted as a back-up generator set. When the required capacity exceeded a certain percentage (determined in advance), the backup set was automatically put into use as well. Prior to the start up of this project, this set-up was lined up and tested extensively at the Energyst Depot. The generator sets were then transported to the Gulf of Mexico, where they were to be installed and put into operation in situ by an Energyst technician. Partly thanks to the use of the Energyst generator sets, it was possible to carry out the work on board the Blue Marlin on schedule as far as its final destination in the Pacific Ocean.
